Throwing & Growing Devotion: “Planted for His Glory”
Share
Scripture: “…that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” — Isaiah 61:3
🥏 The Throw
There’s something special about throwing a brand-new disc for the first time — the clean edge, the unmarked plastic, the fresh flight that’s never seen a tree. It represents possibility. Yet that disc won’t stay perfect for long. It’ll hit obstacles, fade, beat-in, and slowly reveal its true flight pattern.
The same is true of our walk with Christ. When we come to Him, we are made new — but that’s only the beginning. As life’s rounds unfold, the hits and scuffs shape us into the believers God designed us to be.
🌱 The Growth
Isaiah 61:3 calls us “oaks of righteousness” — deeply rooted trees, planted by the Lord for His glory. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Just as a new manufacturer perfects their molds through testing and refinement, God molds us through seasons of trial and grace until our lives fly true to His purpose.
Each ring of the oak tree tells a story of both storms and sunshine — and through it all, the roots hold firm. So it is with faith: the deeper our roots in Christ, the steadier our flight when the winds pick up.
✝️ The Challenge
This week, reflect on where God might be refining you. Are you frustrated by the obstacles on your course, or are you trusting that each impact is part of His process to strengthen your faith?
Pray that your roots grow deeper, your patience longer, and your faith stronger — so that, like the oak, your life points back to the One who planted you.
🙌 The Application
-
In your game: throw one disc you’ve never used before — and dedicate that round to gratitude for God’s new work in you.
-
In your faith: thank God not only for your blessings but also for the “tree hits” that are shaping your flight path toward righteousness.
