There is No Condemnation on the Course

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” — Romans 8:14

In disc golf, every throw counts — but not every throw defines you. We’ve all had those holes where things go sideways: early release, tree kick, double bogey. The round starts to feel like a lost cause.

But imagine if the scorecard didn’t carry those mistakes — if every bad throw was wiped clean, and you could play from a place of freedom instead of frustration.

That’s the picture Paul paints in Romans 8. Through Jesus, our old score — full of missed marks and penalties — is erased. We’re no longer bound by guilt or striving to earn perfection. The Spirit now empowers us to live differently — not for approval, but from it.

Disc golf teaches us something about grace. The best rounds happen when we’re relaxed, focused, and free — not tight with fear or shame. In the same way, walking with Christ isn’t about trying to be flawless; it’s about letting His Spirit lead our steps (or throws) with peace and purpose.

  • Where are you still “keeping score” in your walk with God — trying to earn what He’s already given?

  • How would your life look if you played the “round” of faith with no condemnation, trusting the Spirit’s guidance instead of your own effort?
