Let There Be Light: Seeing God’s Presence on the Disc Golf Course

And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” — Genesis 1:3 (ESV)

Genesis 1:3 marks the moment when everything changed—when God spoke into the void and light shattered the darkness. This wasn’t just physical illumination; it was the beginning of order, direction, and purpose.

In disc golf and in life, light does more than help us see—it gives us perspective. It brings clarity to the course and clarity to the soul.

Light Reveals and Restores

Whether you’re squinting down a fairway at sunrise or finding your disc in the shadows of the rough, light shows us things as they truly are. It defines the lines we need to hit, reveals the obstacles in our way, and helps us navigate both the course and life with purpose.

But the light God created isn’t just physical—it’s spiritual. In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Just like the sun lifts the fog off an early-morning round, Jesus brings clarity, hope, and guidance to every step we take.

Finding Light in Disc Golf Moments

On the course, it’s easy to focus on scorecards, standings, and the bad breaks that come with a tough round. But take a moment to notice the light. The way the sun pours through the trees. The laughter shared between cardmates. The peace that comes after a well-thrown shot. These aren’t just pleasant moments—they’re glimpses of God’s ongoing work.

He still speaks light into darkness. And that same creative, life-giving power that shaped the universe is available to us today. Whether you’re battling discouragement, confusion, or just a cold streak on the course, know this: God wants to shine light into those areas, bringing clarity and renewal.
